November is Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month

Each November, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency leads the national recognition of Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month, an annual effort that focuses on raising awareness about the vital role critical infrastructure – including K-12 schools – plays in the nation’s wellbeing. The initiative emphasizes the importance of preparing for and adapting to changing conditions and recovering quickly from incidents. Schools can access a range of resources on SchoolSafety.gov to build resilience and security, including resources and tools to create and exercise emergency plans, understand and assess threats, and improve physical security and cybersecurity measures. ED Announces $70 Million in New Awards for School-Based Mental Health Services

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced an additional investment of $70 million to expand student access to school-based mental health services. The funding, made available through the School-Based Mental Health Services and Mental Health Service Professionals Demonstration grant programs, is projected to help train and hire an additional 4,000 mental health professionals nationally to support students and address their mental health needs. ED Announces COVID-19 Test Distribution

The U.S. Department of Education, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is offering free COVID-19 tests to interested school districts. Schools can use the tests to stock school nurses’ offices, send test kits home with students or parents, or distribute within their communities. Read More
